VorOrtBox Privacy Policy
In short:
- All data stays on your iPhone. There is no account and no server of ours.
- We never receive your locations, visits, notes or any other data.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDKs.
- Only Apple services are used: Maps, address lookup (can be turned off) and the App Store for purchases.
- You can pause recording at any time and delete everything in the app.

2. Data the app processes
VorOrtBox helps you record working time at jobsites and other places. To do so, the app processes the following only on your device:
- Location (only with your permission in iOS): with automatic recording, iOS occasionally reports stays (“visits”), larger location changes and single location fixes to the app. Arrival and departure times, the coordinate of the stay and its accuracy are stored. No continuous GPS route is recorded.
- Precise departure detection (optional, off by default): during a work stay the app places an invisible area around the place to notice within minutes that you left. This uses your precise location. Never at home or at private places.
- Motion & Fitness (optional, only with your permission): the type of movement detected by iOS (e.g. stationary, walking, driving) to tell trips from stays.
- Your input: place names, groups, notes, corrections, manual entries and settings (e.g. working hours).
- Addresses: addresses looked up for stored coordinates (see section 4).
- Device identifier: a randomly generated identifier kept in your iPhone’s keychain, used only to keep this device’s recordings apart. It never leaves the device and contains no personal information.
If you do not grant location or motion permission, you can still add entries manually.
3. Stored only on your iPhone
All of the data above is stored locally in the app on your iPhone. VorOrtBox has no server of its own and no user account, and it does not transmit this data to us. Version 1.0 offers no iCloud sync.
If you back up your iPhone via iCloud Backup or a computer, app data may be included in that backup. You control these backups in your iPhone’s settings; they are subject to Apple’s terms.
4. Apple services
- Address lookup: to show a coordinate as an address, the app sends that coordinate to Apple’s geocoding service. You can turn address lookup off under Settings › Privacy; addresses already stored remain available offline.
- Maps: map images for stored visits are loaded from Apple Maps. The app does not request your current location for this.
- Purchases and subscriptions: purchases are handled entirely by the App Store. We receive no payment or account data; Apple only tells the app whether a valid purchase exists.
- Notifications: reminders (e.g. the evening review) are created on your device. No push notifications are sent from a server.

5. No analytics, no advertising
VorOrtBox contains no analytics, advertising or tracking tools and no third-party software. No usage profiles are created, and no data is sold or shared.
6. Export
A CSV file is created only when you export it yourself. Where you share it (e.g. by email or to the Files app) is up to you; the respective recipient or service is then responsible for further processing.
7. Retention and deletion
Data is kept until you delete it. In the app you can delete single entries, whole days or your entire history, and set automatic deletion after 30, 90 or 365 days. Deleting the app removes its data from the iPhone; the random device identifier may remain in the keychain.
8. Legal basis
Processing takes place on your device to provide the app’s features (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). The app uses location, motion and notifications only if you allow them in iOS (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR); you can withdraw this permission at any time in iOS Settings.
9. Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. As we receive no data about you, you can usually exercise these rights directly in the app: you can see, correct, export and delete all data. For questions, contact us at the address above. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
10. Children
VorOrtBox is intended for adults recording their working time and is not directed at children.
11. Changes
If the app changes so that it processes other data (e.g. through a later iCloud sync), we will update this policy beforehand. The version published here applies.
